Room Makeovers Happening Near You!

I may be pregnant, but I’m definitely not slowing down my work load! I’ve been busy helping clients transform their homes and most of the time its all from the computer.

This month I’ve been whittling away the time with a master bedroom transformation, a local retail spa, and a dining room.

Here is a sneak peek at a master bedroom transformation I’m helping a client with at the moment.

Ryan Master Inspiration Board

After receiving pictures of the space and working through email to get a clear understanding of your taste, I’ll put together a board like the one above. The best part is that I’ll attach a list where you can find everything (most of which can be ordered online).

The best satisfaction for me is seeing your rooms once everything is ordered and in place.

Remember this one? This was a truly satisfying makeover to see come together! Click to see the Before Pics!

Model Home Tour: California Cool

I LOVE going to model homes…maybe just as much as I love going to Homegoods. So when I stumbled across the Ashton Woods model in Highland Ridge here in Frisco, I just had to blog about it.

What struck me in this particular model was the bold mix of navy blues and graphic patterns throughout. I love blue and its nice to see it used in darker shades since the light blues are so expected in design these days.

I’m really into the almost denim like color of the sofas. With kids in the house, its so hard to keep the lighter colors clean and pristine.

Loving the white cabinets with the black island. Also dying for a wine bottle rack like this one for my island!

The porcelain subway tile backsplash is a such a classic look, and so much more cost effective.

I love the idea of beadboard on a recessed ceiling. The chandelier is fantastic as well.

The dining room is painted in a bold navy blue with bright white wainscotting. It’s quite stunning.

The coffer ceiling with the dark wood beams really draws the eye up and showcases the dramatic ceiling height in the great room. I also love the idea of putting doors on the open spaces surrounding the game room. It keeps all of the noise contained upstairs.

They used what seems to be siding that you generally see on the exterior of a home for the walls in the gameroom. It gives the room a real cottage feel and a break from boring sheetrock!

Media rooms are generally dark holes but I love how the designer kept this one light and bright with lots of glossy white built-ins.

My head is swarming with some fantastic ideas after visiting this home! Can’t wait to use some in my soon-to-be new home!

Making Room for Baby

Lots of changes are going on around here at the Garza household. With a new home under construction and a baby boy on the way, its been chaotic to say the least.

With the sheetrock up and the gender revealed…its time to start planning a nursery.

As if I don’t have enough going on lately…I’ve decided to take on a little project. The glider. Of course I could easily purchase a beautifully upholstered glider for a mere $1,300.00 at Pottery Barn.

But what fun would that be? And it definitely wouldn’t fit the Urban Farmhouse spirit!

So here’s the game plan….I have a perfectly cozy upholstered chair that I’m thinking about turning into a glider. I did a little research, and by golly, it doesn’t seem that difficult! Check out this tutorial at Apartment Therapy.

This seems like it would cost a fraction of the PBK chair and I’ll get to customize the shape and fabric.

Inspiration abounds…check out these ideas from Pinterest below.

I love the idea of having customizable options! Stay tuned to see if I can pull it off!
